Cop, however, was Verhoevens original breakthrough hit when it first came out in 1. Considering the huge legacy that Robo. Cop still holds in action and sci fi history, it would come as no surprise to see the upcoming 3. Of course, this event is also a bit of a painful reminder of the disappointment that was the 2. Robo. Cop remake, which Verhoeven believed took itself too seriously. It inevitably was not going to live up to the standard set by the original, or even approach the level of thought provoking satire that Verhoeven achieved with the original. But the remake also doesnt take away from what the first Robo. Cop accomplished and will continue to accomplish in September.
